Software Engineer (Philadelphia)

GSI Health is a virtual company, meaning that all of our staff members currently operate from their homes or other locations of their choosing. We are based in Philadelphia, PA, but are recruiting our staff members throughout the Mid-Atlantic region that have relatively easy access to the Washington DC, Philadelphia, New York, and Boston areas.

We are looking for bright, versatile, energetic, nimble, independent-yet- collaborative and thoroughly competent professionals to join our consulting staff as a full time permanent employee. All positions have a consulting aspect in addition to a functional core-competence that is largely described in the description below. This means that a client-orientation, a service mindset, and constant readiness to do whatever is needed to satisfy customer obligations is a requirement for all positions. The Software Engineer will participate in the design, construction, testing and defect repair of healthcare information technology applications software. The Software Engineer will also participate in planning and estimating software development tasks, participate in product release planning and perform other duties as assigned.

1.Candidate must have 5+ recent years of experience as a senior software developer with specific knowledge of Health Information Exchange (HIE), Java/web services and Service Oriented Architecture;

2.Specific recent development experience desired includes:

a.Integrating the Health Enterprise (IHE) Patient Identifier Cross Referencing (PIX) and Patient Demographics Query (PDQ) transaction processing, and/or Cross-Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS) strongly desired;

b.Health Level Seven (HL7) lab-based message transaction processing;

c.Business Intelligence/Analytics application development experience in calculating quality of care or pay for performance measurements related healthcare analytics.

3.Technical proficiency in Web Services-Interoperability (WS-I) application services;

4.Prior experience with UDDI, SAML, XML, XACML, SOAP, WS-RM and WS-Security preferred;

5.Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

6.Bachelors degree required; Masters degree in computer science or related field preferred.

7.Ability to travel occasionally to client sites or other locations as required.
